バイアス裁ちは布目を体に対して斜めに通す裁ち方で、伸縮繊維を使わずに生地が体の動きについてきます。裁ち端はすべて袋縫いで包んでいます。細いシルクが脇縫いからほつれないのは、この始末のためです。
