Measure the garment you already reach for

Size labels are only a starting point. Each apparel chart identifies what every number describes. Bust, waist, and hip are recommended body circumferences; measure around your body with the tape level and comfortably close, without pulling it tight. Length, inseam, and rise are garment measurements; compare those with a similar item laid flat without stretching it.

For dresses and tops, bust is measured around the fullest part of the chest, waist around the natural waist, and hip around the fullest part of the seat. Garment length runs from the high shoulder point to the hem. A wrap garment has more adjustment at the waist than a fixed-closure dress, but the shoulder, bust, and overall length still matter.

The Marlow is a true wrap with an inner anchor tie. It fits true to size, and the wrap adjusts roughly one size at the waist. If two sizes look equally workable, use the bust measurement first, then consider how much overlap you prefer through the skirt.

Hem sits mid-calf at 5'9" and at the ankle at 5'4".

How to choose between two sizes

• Choose for the least adjustable part of the garment. On the Marlow, that is usually the shoulder and bust rather than the tied waist.
• Allow room for the layer you plan to wear underneath. Compare with a garment worn over the same kind of underlayer.
• Check the product’s fabric and stretch notes. A woven fabric with slight crosswise stretch will not behave like a knit.
• Use the model information as context, not as a substitute for measurements. Height affects where a hem lands, while proportions affect where the waist and hip sit.

Every apparel product should publish its own chart and fit notes when those facts are available. If a measurement is not listed, treat it as unstated rather than estimating it from a photograph.
