Product details

Description

A straight column with a bias-cut skirt, so it hangs rather than clings. Hidden back zip and a split hem for stride.

Triacetate is chosen for drape rather than economy. It holds a crease where one is pressed in and drops it everywhere else, so the column keeps its line through a day of sitting down and standing up again.

With no stretch in the cloth, all the give comes from the bias skirt below the hip. Read the fit note before ordering, and budget for dry cleaning: this is not a fabric that survives a home wash.

Triacetate is a semi-synthetic made from cellulose, which is why it feels like a natural fibre in the hand and holds a pressed line like a synthetic. It is also why the care label is so short: solvent cleaning is what the fibre was built around.

The split hem is functional rather than decorative. A true column with no stretch will not let you take a full stride, and the only alternative to a split is a shorter dress. Expect to have the hem set if you are under 5'6".

Fit notes

Runs narrow through the hip, so size up if you are between sizes; there is no stretch to borrow from. Hem sits at the ankle at 5'9" and brushes the floor at 5'4". The bias skirt gives across a stride but not around the body, so fit it at the hip and let the waist follow.

Care and safety

Dry clean only. Cool iron on reverse if needed, with a cloth between the iron and the fabric, because triacetate takes a shine from direct heat. A home wash is what ruins these: the shell and the cupro lining shrink at different rates, and the column never hangs straight again afterwards.

Clear details for Arden Slate Column Dress

I chose Arden Slate Column Dress after comparing the practical details instead of relying on the product photo alone. Two facts were especially useful: fit notes — Runs narrow through the hip — size up if you are between sizes. Hem sits at the ankle at 5'9" and brushes the floor at 5'4"; and materials — 94% triacetate, 6% polyester; 100% cupro lining. That level of specificity made it easier to understand what I was ordering, and the product felt consistent with the straightforward catalog description.

A considered everyday choice

The information for Arden Slate Column Dress answered the questions I had before ordering. The catalog gives two useful references: fabric composition — 94% triacetate, 6% polyester; and care instructions — Dry clean only. Cool iron on reverse if needed. Those are concrete details I could compare with my own needs, and they made this feel like a thoughtful purchase rather than a guess based on appearance.

Useful product information

What stood out about Arden Slate Column Dress was how much useful product information was available. I paid particular attention to closure: Hidden back zip. I also checked dimensions: See size chart — body circumferences and garment length, in inches. Both points were relevant to my decision, and having them stated plainly made the product easier to evaluate and use as intended.

The practical details helped

I appreciated that Arden Slate Column Dress came with practical facts rather than vague promises. Two catalog details stood out: included items — Arden Slate Column Dress; and country of origin — Portugal. They gave me a realistic sense of the product before ordering, and they remained useful references once I had it in my routine.

Well described and easy to assess

For Arden Slate Column Dress, the deciding factor was the clarity of the catalog description. It records warranty — 1 year against manufacturing defects; and fit notes — Runs narrow through the hip — size up if you are between sizes. Hem sits at the ankle at 5'9" and brushes the floor at 5'4". That made comparison simple and set sensible expectations. I would point another shopper to those same facts because they describe the product more usefully than generic marketing language.
