Description
Rigid selvedge denim in a straight leg. No stretch, so it moulds to you over the first month rather than springing back.
Rigid denim has no elastane, so it does not spring back. It stretches where you bend and stays there, which is why a pair fits better after a month than it does in the first week and why the fades land where you actually move.
Expect indigo on pale upholstery and light shoes until the surface dye settles. Wash it cold and rarely, take your true waist rather than your stretch-denim size, and give it a week before you judge the fit.
Selvedge denim is woven on a narrow shuttle loom, which is slow and leaves a self-finished edge that will not fray. It is also the source of the slight irregularity in the weave, which is what makes the fade look like cloth rather than print.
At 13.5oz it stands up on its own for the first fortnight and is genuinely warm through winter. If you have only worn stretch denim, expect the first week to feel like a different kind of garment, because it is one.

Fit notes
Rigid denim: snug for the first week, then it relaxes about half a size and stays there. Take your true waist rather than your usual stretch-denim size. If they go on easily on the first day, they will be loose by the end of the month.
Care and safety
Wash cold, inside out, and as rarely as you can stand. Every wash takes indigo out, and the fades are simply the indigo staying where you do not move. Line dry. Expect transfer onto light upholstery and pale shoes for the first several wears until the surface dye settles.

Clear details for Ledger Straight Denim
I chose Ledger Straight Denim after comparing the practical details instead of relying on the product photo alone. Two facts were especially useful: fit notes — Rigid denim: snug for the first week, then relaxes about half a size. Take your true waist, not your usual stretch-denim size; and materials — 100% cotton selvedge denim. That level of specificity made it easier to understand what I was ordering, and the product felt consistent with the straightforward catalog description.
A considered everyday choice
The information for Ledger Straight Denim answered the questions I had before ordering. The catalog gives two useful references: fabric composition — 100% cotton, 13.5oz; and care instructions — Wash cold, inside out, as rarely as you can stand. Line dry. Expect indigo transfer for the first few wears. Those are concrete details I could compare with my own needs, and they made this feel like a thoughtful purchase rather than a guess based on appearance.
Useful product information
What stood out about Ledger Straight Denim was how much useful product information was available. I paid particular attention to closure: Button fly. I also checked dimensions: See size chart — body waist/hip and garment inseam/rise, in inches. Both points were relevant to my decision, and having them stated plainly made the product easier to evaluate and use as intended.
The practical details helped
I appreciated that Ledger Straight Denim came with practical facts rather than vague promises. Two catalog details stood out: included items — Ledger Straight Denim; and country of origin — Japan. They gave me a realistic sense of the product before ordering, and they remained useful references once I had it in my routine.
Well described and easy to assess
For Ledger Straight Denim, the deciding factor was the clarity of the catalog description. It records warranty — 2 years against manufacturing defects; and fit notes — Rigid denim: snug for the first week, then relaxes about half a size. Take your true waist, not your usual stretch-denim size. That made comparison simple and set sensible expectations. I would point another shopper to those same facts because they describe the product more usefully than generic marketing language.
