White sapphire sits at 9 on the Mohs scale against diamond's 10, which in daily wear means it resists scratching from grit just as well. It costs a fraction, and channel-setting keeps it flush enough not to catch on knitwear.
The comfort-fit interior is domed rather than flat, so it passes a knuckle more easily and sits less like a band. Unlike a pearl, sapphire takes ultrasonic cleaning without complaint.
