Product details

Description

A mid-weight lambswool crew knitted in Scotland. Ribbed at the cuff and hem so it holds its shape through a winter.

Fully fashioned shoulders mean the panels are knitted to shape and linked together rather than cut out of a larger piece. There is no raw edge to unravel, and the seam sits flat enough to wear under a jacket.

At this weight it is a genuine winter layer rather than a transitional one. Lambswool relaxes about half a size as you wear it and comes back on washing, so buy for the fit you want cold.

Lambswool is taken from the first shearing, and it is finer and softer than the fleece the same sheep grows later. Knitted at 320gsm it lands between a fine merino base layer and a heavy fisherman's knit.

The ribbing at cuff and hem decides whether a jumper still looks like itself in three winters. Wash it by hand or on a wool cycle and dry it flat: hanging a wet wool jumper stretches the shoulders, and nothing brings them back.

Fit notes

Classic fit with room for a shirt underneath. Wool relaxes about half a size with wear and returns on washing, so buy for the fit you want on the first cold morning rather than the one after an afternoon in it. The body is cut to sit at the hip.

Care and safety

Hand wash cool or use a wool cycle, then dry flat and out of the sun. Do not tumble: heat and agitation together are what felt wool, and felting cannot be reversed. Fold it rather than hanging it, because a wool crew on a hanger grows shoulders within a season.

Clear details for Brackenmoor Wool Crew

I chose Brackenmoor Wool Crew after comparing the practical details instead of relying on the product photo alone. Two facts were especially useful: fit notes — Classic fit with room for a shirt underneath. Wool relaxes about half a size with wear and returns on washing; and materials — 100% lambswool. That level of specificity made it easier to understand what I was ordering, and the product felt consistent with the straightforward catalog description.

A considered everyday choice

The information for Brackenmoor Wool Crew answered the questions I had before ordering. The catalog gives two useful references: fabric composition — 100% lambswool; and care instructions — Hand wash cool or wool cycle. Dry flat, out of sun. Do not tumble. Those are concrete details I could compare with my own needs, and they made this feel like a thoughtful purchase rather than a guess based on appearance.

Useful product information

What stood out about Brackenmoor Wool Crew was how much useful product information was available. I paid particular attention to closure: Pull-on. I also checked dimensions: See size chart — body circumferences and garment length, in inches. Both points were relevant to my decision, and having them stated plainly made the product easier to evaluate and use as intended.

The practical details helped

I appreciated that Brackenmoor Wool Crew came with practical facts rather than vague promises. Two catalog details stood out: included items — Brackenmoor Wool Crew; and country of origin — Scotland. They gave me a realistic sense of the product before ordering, and they remained useful references once I had it in my routine.

Well described and easy to assess

For Brackenmoor Wool Crew, the deciding factor was the clarity of the catalog description. It records warranty — 2 years against manufacturing defects; and fit notes — Classic fit with room for a shirt underneath. Wool relaxes about half a size with wear and returns on washing. That made comparison simple and set sensible expectations. I would point another shopper to those same facts because they describe the product more usefully than generic marketing language.
