Product details

Description

Two-ply cashmere in a longline cardigan you can wear as a jacket. Horn buttons and deep patch pockets.

Two-ply yarn is twisted from two strands before it is knitted, which is what keeps cashmere this soft from going to fluff inside a season. It still pills where it rubs; comb those spots rather than shaving them.

Cut long and loose enough to wear as a jacket indoors. Take your usual size for that drape. Sizing down gives an ordinary cardigan, which is a fair choice but not the one it was designed around.

Grade A describes the fibre rather than the garment — long, fine hairs from the goat's undercoat, which is what lets a cashmere be soft without being loosely spun. Two-ply of Grade A is the combination that resists pilling; either one alone does not.

The horn buttons are cut from buffalo horn and vary in colour, and a spare ships with the cardigan because a matched replacement is not something you can buy afterwards. Expect a little shedding in the first season; it settles after two or three wears.

Fit notes

Cut oversized on purpose. Take your usual size for the intended drape, or size down for a closer fit; both work, they are simply different garments. The sleeve is long by design, since a longline cardigan worn open reads short in the arm otherwise.

Care and safety

Hand wash cool with cashmere shampoo and dry flat. De-pill with a comb or a cashmere stone rather than a razor, which cuts fibres and creates the next round of pills. Wash it every four or five wears: cashmere softens with washing and goes stiff without it.

Clear details for Ottoline Cashmere Cardigan

I chose Ottoline Cashmere Cardigan after comparing the practical details instead of relying on the product photo alone. Two facts were especially useful: fit notes — Cut oversized on purpose. Take your usual size for the intended drape, or size down for a closer fit; and materials — 100% cashmere. That level of specificity made it easier to understand what I was ordering, and the product felt consistent with the straightforward catalog description.

A considered everyday choice

The information for Ottoline Cashmere Cardigan answered the questions I had before ordering. The catalog gives two useful references: fabric composition — 100% cashmere; and care instructions — Hand wash cool with cashmere shampoo. Dry flat. De-pill with a comb, not a razor. Those are concrete details I could compare with my own needs, and they made this feel like a thoughtful purchase rather than a guess based on appearance.

Useful product information

What stood out about Ottoline Cashmere Cardigan was how much useful product information was available. I paid particular attention to closure: Horn buttons. I also checked dimensions: See size chart — body circumferences and garment length, in inches. Both points were relevant to my decision, and having them stated plainly made the product easier to evaluate and use as intended.

The practical details helped

I appreciated that Ottoline Cashmere Cardigan came with practical facts rather than vague promises. Two catalog details stood out: included items — Ottoline Cashmere Cardigan, Spare horn button; and country of origin — Scotland. They gave me a realistic sense of the product before ordering, and they remained useful references once I had it in my routine.

Well described and easy to assess

For Ottoline Cashmere Cardigan, the deciding factor was the clarity of the catalog description. It records warranty — 2 years against manufacturing defects; and fit notes — Cut oversized on purpose. Take your usual size for the intended drape, or size down for a closer fit. That made comparison simple and set sensible expectations. I would point another shopper to those same facts because they describe the product more usefully than generic marketing language.
