A hard-shell sleeve with a 5mm closed-cell foam core, so a knock on a desk edge does not reach the machine.
The 5mm closed-cell foam is rigid rather than plush, so it spreads a knock across the whole panel instead of passing it through to one point. That is the difference between a sleeve and a padded pocket.
The shell is water resistant, not waterproof. It will see off a spilled coffee or a walk through drizzle and it is no substitute for a dry bag. Sponge it clean; a machine wash collapses the foam core.
The sleeve measures 14.2 by 10.2 inches around a machine up to 13.6 inches, and that difference is the foam. A sleeve cut exactly to the laptop has no padding left anywhere it matters.

Sponge clean with mild soap and air dry. Do not machine wash: a drum collapses the closed-cell foam and it does not spring back, leaving a sleeve that looks fine and protects nothing. Air dry away from a radiator for the same reason, and zip it closed first.
