Product details

Description

A grid-back fleece that traps warmth without the bulk, cut close enough to layer under a shell. Thumbholes at the cuff and a zip chest pocket.

The grid is the point. Channels moulded into the back of the fabric hold warm air while letting damp air move out, which is how a thin fleece can be warmer than a thick one and still fit under a shell.

It works as a mid-layer or on its own on a cool morning. Skip fabric softener entirely, because it fills the grid and the fleece stops breathing, and remember it is cut trim: size up if a mid-layer goes underneath.

The polyester is recycled, which on a grid fleece is a real choice rather than a label. Moulding channels cleanly needs a consistent fibre length, and recycled feedstock is harder to keep consistent than virgin.

Thumbholes matter more than they sound under a shell, because they stop the sleeve riding up your forearm as you push an arm into a jacket. Two years is the honest working life of a fleece worn hard: the grid flattens long before the fabric fails.

Fit notes

Trim, and cut to layer under a shell. If a mid-layer is going underneath, size up. The sleeves are cut long for the thumbholes, so a cuff sitting past the wrist bone is correct rather than oversized.

Care and safety

Machine wash warm, tumble dry low, do not iron. No fabric softener at all: it fills the grid channels and the fleece stops moving moisture, which is the whole reason to own one. Wash it with other synthetics rather than towels, which shed lint straight into the grid.

Clear details for TrailGrid Fleece

I chose TrailGrid Fleece after comparing the practical details instead of relying on the product photo alone. Two facts were especially useful: fit notes — Trim, cut to layer. If you plan to wear it over a mid-layer, size up; and materials — 100% recycled polyester. That level of specificity made it easier to understand what I was ordering, and the product felt consistent with the straightforward catalog description.

A considered everyday choice

The information for TrailGrid Fleece answered the questions I had before ordering. The catalog gives two useful references: fabric composition — 100% recycled polyester; and care instructions — Machine wash warm. Tumble dry low. Do not iron. No fabric softener — it coats the grid and kills the loft. Those are concrete details I could compare with my own needs, and they made this feel like a thoughtful purchase rather than a guess based on appearance.

Useful product information

What stood out about TrailGrid Fleece was how much useful product information was available. I paid particular attention to closure: Full-length front zip. I also checked dimensions: See size chart — body circumferences and garment length, in inches. Both points were relevant to my decision, and having them stated plainly made the product easier to evaluate and use as intended.

The practical details helped

I appreciated that TrailGrid Fleece came with practical facts rather than vague promises. Two catalog details stood out: included items — TrailGrid Fleece; and country of origin — Vietnam. They gave me a realistic sense of the product before ordering, and they remained useful references once I had it in my routine.

Well described and easy to assess

For TrailGrid Fleece, the deciding factor was the clarity of the catalog description. It records warranty — 2 years against manufacturing defects; and fit notes — Trim, cut to layer. If you plan to wear it over a mid-layer, size up. That made comparison simple and set sensible expectations. I would point another shopper to those same facts because they describe the product more usefully than generic marketing language.
